Captioning & Subtitling Services
Providing higly skilled & certified subtitlers
Open/Closed Captioning/Subtitling
Captioning and Subtitling are interchangeable terms. This technology allows the deaf and hard of hearing communities to better enjoy television programmes.
Through Open captioning, the audio from the programme is displayed as text which is then superimposed onto the video.
In Closed captioning, the information is encoded and transmitted with the video, but is only available when you enable the teletext (page 888) on your television set.
Realtime (Live) Captioning
Realtime closed captioning is done by qualified stenographers who also have additional specialised skills and training in captioning. Using their stenography machine, they listen to the audio of the relevant programme and type in what they hear, this is then translated firstly into English and then into the data that is sent via their modem to an encoder at the television station and it is then sent to the teletext pages and transmitted on air, all in the blink of an eye.
